SINCE LAST WE MET

The weather is getting ready to ("fixin' to") change again. I feel it all over my self, like a chill or ache. When it's hot and humid I'll wish for these cool days.

So much has happened in a month. Aunt Ginny is still in the nursing home, and will be. She has fallen several times. Friday she had to be taken to the ER for a scan. Nothing was broken; she slept all day from the pain meds, thus losing another day, about which she is confused already. She still has not grasped that she is in the nursing home, thinks it's a house David bought and she is living there with people taking care of her. Sunday morning early she fell again and had a big bruise on back of her head (I didn't see it - the aide said so), but her left arm/elbow were pretty torn up and bruised. Her skin is like paper. Her right hand is purple/black. Friday night she called Paul around 10:00 and thought it was 10:00 a.m., wanted him to come there. Saturday morning around 8:30 she called me and wanted to know if I had Andrew's phone number. I told her she had lost a day when she slept so much. And then Sunday David texted all of us and said Dr. Ben had ordered a sedative for her twice a day, for anxiety. I went to yet another cousin's funeral (Edwina's sister Anita, whom I didn't know that well), but I went. Afterward I went by the nursing home and Glenda came in while I was there. I think we are all in agreement that AG needs to stay where she is - Dr. B had recommended she go home with round the clock care, just Friday I think, after the ER fall. At the Manor, there are medical people on staff and she is nearer the hospital, and someone is there 24/7 already. It's such a hard, sad situation. It is for all the families and patients there. (I don't know why this first part is highlighted on the published entry. This whole post is formatted crazy. I don't know why some is small, some highlighted; I took out all the extra spacing but it keeps coming back... But it is what it is.)
Some of these may be duplicates. So these are three of the dresses I made for the mission trip coming up soon.
Bren's rose.
Now there are only two mules. I may ask our neighbor for some of their manure if I can think of it.
Roses in front of the house.
I cleaned out this spot, too, on the east side of the driveway.
Steve pressure washed the deck and will stain/seal it when the weather allows.
Geranium.
Thoughtful
One of her favorite places, on the sill outside the kitchen window, which is pretty far off the ground. She practically climbs the wall to get up there, and scales the wall getting down, too. She had been getting her claws stuck in the screen and we'd have to go get her down. She hasn't done it in a while.

These are from May 5 club meeting. Jean Crane, a friend from church and from quilt guild did our program. These are her grandmother, her mother, and some of her own quilts.
This small one is hand pieced and quilted by Jean when she was in the recliner for some time when she broke her ankle (I think ankle).
Pat, program; Bren, hostess.
Becky Wright (Vice-President Elect of the MFWC-GFWC, in blue and white) installed officers. She's from Bruce, MS. Married to James Wright, from here.
Ruth Ellen brought a cake congratulating officers.

Some of the contest items that won awards at District III Convention. My quilt on right; green/red/pink rose on left; chicken pincushions in basket.
Our yearbook (center) and scrapbook (2015 on right) won blue ribbons in State competition. On the left is last year's blue ribbon winner.

Becky and Bren.
Jean and Maxine.
Jean and me. (I gave her two mini charm packs (Double Chocolate by Moda) and a $20 gift certificate for presenting the program for me.)
Good time visiting.

The salad lunch table. Flowers from Brenda and sister in law Linda's yards.

Brenda gave the devotional on Psalm 23. Very moving.

A card Sherron sent me.

Amy's baby shoes, soft leather, which I've wrapped and put in the cedar chest.

On Mother's Day (5/8) our sweet Zenobia died in Huntsville hospital. Her son Jim lives in Huntsville. This was just April 14 and she died three weeks later. She was 96, a treasure. I went to her funeral last Wednesday at Spring Hill Methodist Church. We at the Club and so many, many others will miss her. The second photo is of her with Maxine Wade and Jo Russell. Maxine and Jo were receiving certificates of award for 57 and 58 years of Club service. I love these pictures and thankful to have made them. Zee was buried in red and there were at least 100 red roses on her casket.

Looking east toward the path between ours and Aunt Ginny's.

Thrift on the bank, dogwood trees still in bloom at the time.

Rosebush Brenda gave me 4 or 5 years ago.

Hydrangea. I bought an oak leaf hydrangea at the Master Gardeners' plant sale May 7. Paul planted it near the big old sweet gum tree. I sure hope it lives; they're so pretty.

Buckeye.
Our Thelma.
Our Lucy. I had raked leaves (that big pile on the left!) and she was inspecting.

She loves to roll in the dirt or rocks or wherever. She was sick last Friday; took her to the vet. Some kind of infection. Jenni said all her blood work was fine; pancreas was a little high. Home with antibiotics. A well-loved cat who adopted us!
