END-OF-SUMMER LIGHT

Yesterday evening I was walking Oscar down in the Low Garden and looking back up the hill is this -

By the road, next to the entrance to the log road is this strange weed. Behind it is the cedar tree that Oscar likes to check out. It smells good - I don't know if it's the scent he likes or just the deep shade underneath. Always been a favorite spot of his.

This morning we learned that Roland Leslie, a friend in Wynne, was killed in a head-on collision at Caldwell, AR. He had been airlifted to Memphis but he died. Could not believe it. He had an asphalt works business and had done work for Woodruff. Had known him many years - his former father- and mother-in-law, Fred and Bobbie Miller, were members of Wynne Baptist. Tragically, Bobbie had been paralyzed for several years before she died because of a car accident. Roland's wife Cheryl was Oscar's groomer when we lived in Wynne. Oscar loved Cheryl. Roland was a great guy, avid Razorback fan and good friend of Paul. Always pleasant and good-natured. He will be missed.
