In the Bleak Midwinter

In the bleak midwinter
Frosty wind made moan,
Earth stood hard as iron,
Water like a stone;
Snow had fallen, snow on snow,
Snow on snow,
In the bleak midwinter,
Long ago.

This is a verse of a pretty poem by Christina Rossetti (19th century), upon which the song is based I think - sung by Sarah McLachlan, and another rendering by James Taylor. Which I begin listening to around Thanksgiving, and probably should not because it can be really sad. Anyway, what reminded me of this today is that it is so dark already, consumers coming in shivering, rumors of snow. It has rained all day. It's almost time to go home and it looks as if it's 8:00.

Hope we don't have any snow. Or ice, especially!
