Eclectica

Last night Amy's friend Matt took us to Eat Well, a Japanese buffet restaurant near Wolf Chase/Germantown. There were choices galore, some I knew I wouldn't try, like squid, but others I did enjoy - fried sweet potato patties, sesame chicken, spring rolls, macaroons. I expecially liked the green glitter sinks in the ladies bathroom. When can we get some sinks like this??

When we arrived there, Amy and I noticed right away that next door was a Scrapbook Supply Store called Eclectica Scrapbooks and Stamps (Eclecticamemphis.com). We just went ga-ga! There was just too much to choose from and we wandered around for about 30 minutes just looking. They offer classes and there's a large area in the back of the store furnished just for this purpose. Amy and I each got one pen (Copic, which has a brush-like tip at one end and a broad-tipped marker at the other). But it's too far away to just run out there for classes. Michael's is just around the corner and they have classes, too.

Amy and I intended to watch the Olympics (men's long program ice skating) but it was just too late when it came on. We watched the short program the other night. Ice skating is my favorite event. Single, couples...

The first part of the week there were major plumbing problems and after two days, the plumber and his assistants got everything draining again. We were so happy to be able to run lots of water and for it to drain! It started Valentine's morning (Sunday) and Monday morning all the plumbing was completely awry! Amy's friend Adam (for whom she worked when he had surgery) had just had to have work don and he called the plumber for her. They worked hard out in the cold ("It isn't quite as bad under the house," the boss said) for the better part of two days. Monday is when it snowed and we weren't sure but what we'd be iced in again, but thankfully that stopped. But the workers didn't... They had to replace pipes and rotor out the line - tree roots were the main culprit. It was expensive, but not nearly so as if we had called someone out of the phone book I'm sure. We are very grateful!!

I called Paul this morning and told him of our exciting evening last night. I know he would have loved to go to the scrapbook store!
