I finally got an answer at the Social Security office this morning and made an appointment for next week in Jonesboro. I got my birth certificate from the lockbox yesterday and as it turns out, good thing. The SS.gov folks have a "discrepancy" in my birthdate; originally it was reported as 3/5. Yes; and for years I thought it was 3/5, I suppose until I was old enough to be interested in looking at my birth certificate, and it's 3/6. It was changed in 1969 just after Paul and I married and I applied for new name on the card. This shouldn't be a problem since I was going to take it anyway, but they'll have to actually see the BC. (Like Beck - she celebrates two birthdates - 8/12 and 8/13!)
I can apply online and they should have the information when we go next week to. The lady who answered was very patient; I know she answers confusing/confused questions every day. But she was very nice and I appreciate her help. I'd forgotten, I guess, that SS benefits are paid a month behind. So no pocket money till May 1! Oh, well. I have a jar of change I can get into.
I met the Buds at Mike's for lunch today. It was so nice not to be hurried, as we can be at times. We actually had time to spare for them to get back to work. I got Paul a piece of chocolate pie to go; I helped him eat it, too.
We met with a financial advisor this afternoon. I can understand how all the former retirees for whom I requested option forms probably felt. What do I do now?? Paul and I thought long and hard about this. But I believe this will work for us and the advisor is with a good company, has a passion for doing good work, and by reputation and reports from others has done well for them.
Today's mail brought my driver's license renewal reminder, so for the first time ever since living in Arkansas, I got it renewed at the DFA in Wynne! Kim waited on me and took my picture - and it was good; as good as a DL picture can be. At least my eyes weren't closed and I smiled. In 2006, the year 2010 looked a long way away and I'm sure I've always wondered what I'd look like in the next picture. Now 2014 doesn't seem terribly far. I can hardly believe tomorrow's Friday.

Marsha (s-i-l) emailed tonight and said Morgan would like to have some piece of clothing of Mama's to sew into her wedding dress near her heart. I just about cried. I forwarded it to Sher. I have some of her things; Sher does, too, and has also given some to other women who could use them. But we'll have something for her. Her and fiance Steve's wedding date is April 17. I can hardly believe this little girl with the long blond curls, who looked so much like Mama's little girl pictures, can be getting married.
