Skillet Apple Cake
Ruby emailed me this afternoon about a recipe on The Pioneer Woman's blog.
The Pioneer Woman (Ree Drummond) has a new cookbook coming out next month and it's #95 in books today, or this hour. There's a link to her page and this recipe at Amazon. In her usual manner, PW has richly illustrated each step with her photography, and the recipe is at the end and can be printed. Can hardly wait to get some Granny Smith apples!
The browning of the butter and sugar reminds me of Aunt Ginny's caramel cake, the frosting of which she browns up in an iron skillet, too. I could just eat the icing like candy. I don't have the recipe for AG's icing; she just cooks it up with old fashioned magic.
