PT is Amazing
The first PT went surprisingly well today - lots better and less painful that I imagined. Of course, the professionals can tell you that you're able to do much more than you think you can, and show you how to accomplish that! Fifty percent weight on the hurt leg is figured this way: half your body weight, then with the hurt leg pressing on the scale, press until it reaches that number! I had no idea. It's a lot more weight than I imagined. Will worked with me today and stepped me through several exercises I'll also have to do at home. But they didn't hurt nearly like I thought. He said I had good range to have been through what I have. He showed me how to walk on the walker, with normal gait, not slouching and looking ahead. Otherwise, you tend to bend way over and kind of throw that foot up when it's its turn without moving the joints.
Judy was so good and patient, helping me get inside in a wheel chair and then down to PT. (Another helper was Amy Smith who used to live across the street from us; she works at the hospital.) Was good to get out!
City council meeting is tonight with two meetings and a public hearing beforehand. It'll be a long day for Paul. Judy also helped him out today by carrying me around!
Very encouraging day.
