"Journey of Loss: Finding Comfort and Victory"

I did attend the Women's Ministry Grief Support meeting last night; there were eleven present. Brother Bob's wife Kay gave her testimony and Claire Nix spoke on Psalm 123:2 and Isaiah 26:3-4. Both of these verses confirmed what I was pondering yesterday.

"Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee. Trust ye in the LORD forever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength." (Isaiah 26:3-4)

Perfect peace is "a double portion of peace," as if saying, "Peace, peace!" Stayed is to lean upon or take hold, rest the self. I mentioned yesterday about leaning upon God for our strength. Also yesterday Wesley wrote about beginning new every morning, each day is a new gift from God. One of the other Scripture references was "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

It is amazing how God weaves His Word into our lives!

I knew most of the ladies at the meeting; only a couple I was not acquainted with. The schedule is to meet every first Thursday evening 6:30 to 8:00 in the Youth Room at Wynne Baptist. Anyone who is seeking comfort over the loss of a loved one, family or friend, is welcome. I plan to invite several I know who may find comfort and sense of community with those who are experiencing pain, who have been there, either recently or many years ago. The loss is always there, but God's comfort is eternal.
