One Down

Paul's test this morning (colonoscopy) was fine. No problems, only mild diverticulosis.

Dr. Garner said Dr. Beaton was being cautious and checking possible causes for his continuing weight loss, thus this test. His doctor advised him (actually me, since Paul was still "under") to sometime have his blood sugar checked an hour or so after he eats (and definitely not wait till this fall, when Dr. B had originally told him to have it re-checked). Dr. G is diabetic and some of the same symptoms Paul is having finally rang a bell with him, a doctor, and sure enough, the diagnosis. What is so ironic about this, is that Dr. G has 50 carbs per day - per day - and Dr. B just told us that Paul could increase his to 75 per meal! So maybe the low carbs has not taken care of this; but we still have further checking to be sure, of course. He told Paul before he did the test, yeah, sometimes, you can just get between a rock and a hard place. He assured me though that diabetes is so much more treatable than it used to be. He has an insulin pump, as does Joy, who is Amy's age.

He also advised Paul having a PSA test; again, precautionary. The age thing again!

Now on to the arm problem, the benign, dull, non-glowing, tumor in his right forearm bone, what is that - radius? (Just learned something - radius is the forearm bone on the thumb side of the arm; ulna is the forearm bone on the opposite side of the thumb.) Anyway, the top of his arm, so I suppose it could be either. I don't think I've actually heard Paul say. That is Friday, June 1, for consultation at UAMS, Dr. Nicholas.

Paul is sleeping now. I should go grab a nap, too. It has gotten cloudy and is thundering some. Cool in the house; fan is on. Seems to be my favorite melody lately. Doesn't take a whole lot to make me happy. Paul being well is right at the top.

**********

There is a visitation I must go to tonight. Sue Thompson's husband Ken died on Mother's Day. I only saw it in the paper this morning. From 6-8 at Thompson-Wilson. He'd been ill for some time.
