Saturay was another frozen-in day. It's supposed to begin thawing by Monday, tomorrow. Church services all over this area were cancelled including ours at WBC. Linda emailed me from Batesville with pictures of her and Richard's deck, bird feeders and little rose patterned rain boots with snow up to the tops. They were feeding the birds, too. Tom and JoAnn saw about three snowflakes as of Friday night over in Texarkana. So far we have not lost power again. Oscar has learned the routine of the back yard, and it's amazing how entertained and mesmerized you can become watching icicles grow, birds flock to bird seed, and late evening shadows cross the white yard. It was fun watching Oscar run across the yard, kicking up snow and occasionally sliding.
When we were kids in Alabama we always watched "Bonanza" on Sunday nights on our fuzzy TV. The old shows are rerun now and there probably isn't a time the program isn't being telecast somewhere. This week Pernell Roberts died, the last of the "Cartwright Family." Who can forget those rugged men making their lives on that beautiful ranch? Reading a little background, "Hoss" was the first to die and at a very young age - 34. After his untimely death, the series' tone changed to one of sadness and was cancelled soon after. Michael Landon and Pernell Roberts both died of pancreatic cancer. Lorne Green succumbed to prostate cancer at 72.
