It Is So Cold!!

More snow last night and a beautiful sight this morning. The streets were fine to drive on and I made it to work okay. We got to leave an hour early this afternoon anticipating the re-freeze on the highways and Carolyn Hayes rode home with me. I walked Oscar. We did it lickety-split and he got his business done pronto. I was so wary of the icy spots and thankfully avoided the slick places. I felt sorry for his little paws, but I can imagine how he'd react to little doggie boots.

One afternoon in the near future I'll be given a little drop-in party at work. I know most of my family won't be ble to come because of the distance, and that's okay. It'll be a good time to visit and say goodbyes to my other "family" and friends. I wasn't too keen on it, but the more I thought about it, the more I really wanted to. It's a special time in anyone's life - a milestone; and having been on the "other" side many times, I know people do want to help celebrate.

I signed my "official" papers today and should be on my way to membership in that "elite club" of retirees! I knew that one day I'd get here by God's grace and it feels great, and humbling at the same time. Imagine working in the same place for going on 40 years! Longevity in itself is an accomplishment these days, and I'm thankful I made it! Paul said his life is going to change - he just has no idea! lol (January 6)

Our field representative from NRECA who administers our insurance and pension plans is coming by tomorrow. I've worked with Dave through the years and he's been a great help to me many times. I consider him and Chris, his wife, very good friends. It'll be good to see him and the timing couldn't be better.

Today was my nephew Benjamin's birthday and I called him. He was 23! I asked if he got a cake and he said he did. He was at Mike and Marsha's, his mom and dad's.

Have been thinking about Sue's Silly Saturday over at Blackberry Creek Home Arts. When I have more time, I'll check into it. I should have a little more time now. Like Monday. I probably will feel "full speed" for a while, till I realize I can actually slow down and have time to be! It will be loverly.
